I’m enjoying this series! Hale Rambo has spun a world of intriguing and engaging characters. The first novel focused on Zizy. In the second we learn more about Laysa. I won’t spoil it for anyone so I’ll just say I felt like I was right there in the world with Laysa as she learned more about her powers. It’s refreshing to read a fantasy that is character-driven. You’ll want to stick with these adventurers. Can’t wait for book 3!

This is a fun story full of adventure and magic. A gnome named Zizy ventures out on a mission demanded by her aunt to bring back to her a valuable relic. Along the way, she makes friends that happen to be going her way. They get caught in some mishaps as they go on this trek together. This tale is cute, an easy read and fast paced.

Tools of a Thief

This novella is a fun, fast-paced adventure about a gnome called Zizy who is tasked with finding a valuable object for her daunting aunt Emba. Along the way she meets Laysa, a librarian and Pace, who is trying to join his soldier sister in the north. It was confusing at first and felt like jumping into a book halfway through. It has the story of a full novel in a novella and needs more world building, explanation and fleshing out. There is potential for it to be a much better book as the characters are interesting and the adventure scenes are creative.
